This chapter explores how the medical establishment has created dichotomous terms of autosufficiente (self-sufficient) and non autosufficiente (not self-sufficient) for bureaucratic purposes in Italy. Pieta explores how this plays out in the “Golden Age” Center as a group of dementia patients seeks to find a place in that elderscape.
